Industrial Biology, what is it?
A discipline at the crossroads of science and industry
Industrial biology is an innovative discipline that combines biological sciences with industrial technologies. Its goal is to take advantage of natural biological processes to develop useful applications in various sectors such as food, health, environment, cosmetics, etc…
A response to contemporary challenges
In the face of current environmental, energy, and societal challenges, industrial biology offers sustainable and innovative solutions. It allows the production of goods and services while reducing the consumption of fossil resources and pollutant emissions. Research in industrial biology contributes, for example, to the development of biofuels, biodegradable plastics, and more efficient water treatment systems.
Industrial biology affects many sectors of activity:
- Health and pharmacy: production of medicines, vaccines, innovative therapies…
- Agri-food: optimization of fermentation processes, creation of natural additives, improvement of preservation processes…
- Environment: biological treatment of waste, bioremediation to clean up soil and water…
- Cosmetics: production of bioactive molecules for skin and hair care, environmentally friendly cosmetics…
Skills at the heart of training
For more than 30 years, the School of Industrial Biology has been guiding its students towards expertise in biology. EBI offers two post-baccalaureate programs:
- The Grande École Engineering Program (Master’s level)
- The Biotech Engineering Bachelor’s Degree (Bac+3)
These diplomas are recognized by the CTI. Our engineers and assistant engineers are generalist experts in the field of biology, with a strong specialization in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, agri-food, and environmental sectors.
The diversity of professions practiced by our alumni attests to their multiple skills: project managers, quality engineers, research and development experts, bioproduction specialists, and much more.
Why choose industrial biology?
Choosing industrial biology means committing to a field with a promising future, where innovation and respect for the environment go hand in hand. The professional prospects are numerous and varied, ranging from research and development to production, as well as industrial project management.
EBI establishes itself as a benchmark in training in this field. With education rooted in industrial reality and partnerships with major companies, the school prepares its students to become key players in the biological and industrial innovation of tomorrow.
Industrial biology is much more than a scientific discipline: it is a true revolution in the service of a more sustainable world.
