What is the EG@ contest?

The Euro Graduation Access (EG@) Competition

Every year, the Euro Graduation Access (EG@) competition offers an opportunity to international students wishing to enroll in one of the 10 French engineering schools participating in the competition, including EBI. Founded in 2017 under the auspices of a nonprofit organization, EG@ is an initiative recognized for its role in promoting academic excellence and the internationalization of academic programs.

A competition for international scientists

EG@ vise à recruter des étudiants dotés d’un bon niveau scientifique dans des disciplines variées telles que :

  • Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Agronomy,

An international organization

The competition is being held in several countries, including Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, and Benin, offering students the opportunity to take the written and oral exams near their place of residence.

The exams include tests in French, English, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics, as well as an additional exam in Chemistry and Biology for students interested in the EBI.

The events

Written exams:

  • Math: 1.5 hours (multiple-choice questions on fundamental concepts)
  • Physics: 1.5 hours (multiple-choice questions on fundamental concepts)
  • Computer Science: 1.5 hours (multiple-choice questions on fundamental concepts)
  • French: 1 hour (multiple-choice questions on grammar and spelling)
  • English: 1 hour (multiple-choice questions on grammar and spelling)
  • Supplementary Chemistry-Biology Exam: 1 hour and 30 minutes (multiple-choice questions on general chemistry and organic chemistry; structural, genomic, and metabolic biochemistry; cell biology, Mendelian genetics, microbiology, and parasitology)

Oral exams:

The oral exam takes the form of an interview with a panel of examiners, focusing on the candidate’s general knowledge and their reasons for wishing to pursue their studies in France. It usually lasts between 20 and 30 minutes.

The purpose of this interview is to assess the candidate’s skills in expressing, arguing, and rephrasing ideas, with a portion conducted in English and questions of a scientific nature.

A stepping stone to the future

Thanks to EG@, hundreds of talented African students enroll each year in engineering programs at prestigious French engineering schools. This competition thus helps build a strong bridge between continents, offering young scientists a promising future and strengthening international academic exchanges.
