Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2026

Throughout the month of October, EBI got involved for Pink October, the awareness campaign for breast cancer. Students and staff came together around solidarity initiatives to support prevention, better understand the disease, and contribute, in their own way, to advancing research.

Together for a good cause: a solidarity walking challenge

On October 2, 7, and 19, students and staff at EBI laced up their sneakers to take part in a walking challenge focused on solidarity.

Beyond physical activity, this initiative brought the EBI community together around an important cause: the fight against breast cancer. A collective commitment that reminded everyone of the importance of everyday actions and each person’s involvement.

Better understanding to better prevent: an awareness conference

On October 14, our colleague Dr. Laila AKHOUAYRI, a professor of bioinformatics, gave a popular science talk on breast cancer.

This meeting was a chance to talk about several key topics:

  • Understanding the pathology: getting to know breast cancer and how it works
  • Raising awareness about prevention: identifying risk factors, understanding the importance of screening, and recognizing warning signs
  • Discovering scientific advances: exploring new opportunities offered by research, especially thanks to artificial intelligence

This discussion session helped make scientific knowledge more accessible and encouraged better health information.

Research at the heart of EBInnov®’s commitment

At EBInnov®, expertise in bioinformatics opens up new perspectives in oncology. By helping to analyze and use biological data, bioinformatics contributes to the development of new research approaches and a better understanding of diseases.

A supportive get-together to wrap up the challenge

On October 21, a cake sale benefiting the Ruban Rose association marked the end of this challenge in a spirit of friendliness and solidarity.

This initiative extended the EBI community’s engagement and helped support a cause that affects all of us.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to this effort, and especially to the student associations, whose involvement and energy brought this collective commitment to life.

At EBI, Breast Cancer Awarness Month was much more than just an event: it was an opportunity to come together, share knowledge, and remind everyone how important awareness, prevention, and research are in the fight against breast cancer.
