This engineering major is designed to train engineers to work in the biomedical sector, on vaccines, biotechnologies, enzyme kits, cell models… These are team management positions in a laboratory. This major is suitable for continuing studies at the doctoral level.
During these two semesters, the student-engineers will learn to :
Student engineers take 3 courses in their major in addition to the language courses
To enhance their experience and skills, engineering students may freely choose 4 to 10 elective courses from the programs of other majors or from the free program of the following minors:
Research and Innovations in Applied Biotechnology (RIAB) enables autonomous research to be carried out in the EBI laboratories. Our students monitor the literature, plan and prepare their experiments, analyse their results, open up perspectives through discussion, and evaluate and keep their budgets. A poster is presented during the scientific day. Scientific articles finalize their work.
During their engineering cycle, from 4th to 5th year, engineering students are challenged by high value-added internships, contributing to change within the company.
After the EBI, young graduate engineers have several options: enter the professional world or continue their studies.
They can move towards a doctorate, complete their profile by following a 3rd cycle in a business or engineering school, or follow the "Patent and Industrial Property" course.
- Research Engineer
- Research and Development Engineer
- Design engineer
- Life science technical sales engineer
His main mission in the bio-industry is to initiate and participate in the development of research programs. He/she conducts and pilots innovation and product development projects: elaboration of approaches and identification of tools and methodologies necessary for the experimental realization. He validates and interprets the results, then disseminates and promotes them in the form of a report, at conferences or in specialized journals. This engineer works in collaboration with other laboratories and departments (marketing, production, regulations, etc.).
At the end of their specialization, the EBI engineering students who have validated all the required criteria, obtain the engineering diploma of the School of Industrial Biology, accredited by the CTI, Master's degree and recognized by the State.
I entered the EBI in parallel admission in the 2nd year of the integrated biology preparatory class. I majored in Biotechnology Innovation, while taking other courses in Engineering, Quality Assurance and Marketing/Business Development. During this course, I did 4 internships in France and in the UK. I then completed an industrial PhD with Feldan Therapeutics and the Department of Chemical Engineering at Laval University in Canada.
I am currently a Project Manager in Business Development at Feldan Therapeutics, a biotech company in Canada. My job is to manage collaborations between different partners (industrial and academic) and the company in order to bring an innovative patented technology, the Feldan Shuttle, to clinical applications in regenerative medicine. My mandates also include market intelligence and research activities for the development of Feldan Therapeutics' technology.
