Quality Assurance and Process Validation |
|
|
|
Aims The Master of Business Engineering
scientific programme in "Quality Assurance and Process Validation" is aimed at
providing students with the necessary skills to implement the different
regulatory and recommended Quality systems in companies in the pharmaceutical,
agribusiness, cosmetics, diagnostics and environment sectors, etc.
The two prevailing concepts within this Master's are Total Quality
methodology and validation.
The programme places particular importance on establishing the proof that implementing or using any process, equipment,
product, activity or system really enables the expected results to be
attained.
Regulatory and operational aspects are covered, particularly standards,
GLP, GMP, metrology, industrial maintenance, quality control and specific
mathematical tools (SPC, Control charts).
By combining this scientific programme with the
MBE common core syllabus classes during their
6 months' training at EBI, students are able to envision these problems from a
project manager's viewpoint.
Our trained
Qualification, Laboratory, Production and Quality Assurance managers
are ready to join large, medium and small companies in the Life Science sectors
and consultancy firms specialising in industrial validation and quality. Their
duties consist in creating and maintaining total quality in the company by
validating processes, industrial installations, laboratories, methods and
analysis and control equipment.
VOCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
Examples of positions held by our students :
- Validation manager
- Quality manager

Genomics are the exhaustive multidisciplinary study of genomes in terms of
gene numbers, patterns and functions. This science is now enjoying an
increasingly vast number of applications in various sectors such as
pharmaceutics, medicine, agriculture and related industries. The industrial use
of genomic findings is now a development strategy in the various sectors of
advanced biology. The EBI Master of Business Engineering scientific programme
in Industrial Genomics is aimed at giving in-depth training in the different
traditional and modern concepts of Molecular Biology associated with the many
genomic applications: Pharmacogenomics, Molecular diagnostics, Plant and animal
transgenesis, Gene and cell therapy, Recombinant proteins, DNA chips, etc.
By combining this scientific programme with the
MBE common core syllabus classes during their 6 months’ training at
EBI, students are able to envision these
problems from a project manager's viewpoint.
Students receiving this training are able to set up and manage applied
research tasks in public or private laboratories, utilise genomic findings in
small or medium sized firms and work as molecule production research managers in
the pharmaceutical industry.
They transfer genomic findings into the various Bioindustry sectors.
Examples of positions held by our
students :
- Career scientist
- Junior product manager (diagnostic kit firm)
- Protein Expression Engineer and Protein Engineering
- Several Research scientists
- Two PHD students in Canada and the
Netherlands.

Computing for Life Sciences |
|
|
|
A top level postgraduate course to face the new challenges in the
bioinformatics sector industries and companies for those having completed a
Master's level life sciences programme. The exponential increase in Life
science research data has generated further requirements in terms of data
acquisition, storage, processing and communication.
The EBI Master of Business Engineering scientific programme in Computing
for Life Sciences is aimed at providing Biology students with all the necessary
data management tools.
With genome sequencing, bioinformatics enables the interpreting of the
genetic code (Genomics) and the creation of a three-dimensional protein
translation (Proteomics).
In Clinical Research, it serves to classify and interpret data used to
verify, monitor and validate the efficacy of a pharmaceutical. The development
and use of Data Management and Data Mining have increased the importance of IT
in the pharmaceutical sector.
Biostatistics tools, programming in several languages commonly used in
our sector companies and knowledge of networks, specific data exchange tools and
bioinformatics application software complete this training to fulfil the needs
of this market.
By combining this scientific programme with the
MBE common core syllabus classes during their 6 months’ training at EBI,
students are able to envision these problems from a project manager's
viewpoint.
Our trained bioinformaticians develop software and graphic interfaces and
become data managers or biostatisticians in biotech companies, the
pharmaceutical industry, CRO (Contract Research Organisations), software houses
or public research laboratories.
- Bioinformatics engineer,
- Data Manager,
- Business engineer,
- Design engineer,
- Software developer,
- Medical analysis laboratory informatics manager,
etc.

Bioproduct Quality and Protection |
|
|
|
The EBI Master of Business Engineering scientific programme in "Bioproduct
quality and protection" offers training in the most recent data and tools to
manage problems related to product development in the Cosmetics, Agribusiness
and Pharmaceutical sectors. The main
sections of this programme are :
- applying microbiology to industrial contamination
problems,
- product development methods,
- risk analysis,
- current regulations in each sector
concerned.
In other words : the
ability to effectively manage every element guaranteeing product quality from
manufacturing to consumption.
By combining this scientific programme with the MBE common core
syllabus classes during their 6 months' training at EBI, students are able to
envision these problems from a project manager's viewpoint.
Our trained managers are ready to join
companies to work in development, quality and production. They
transfer technology between those departments involved in product design and
improvement. In bioindustries, their roles vary from development to industrial
marketing. In the retailing and distribution industry they are responsible for
securing supplies.
- Product quality manager
- Cosmetics regulatory affairs officer
- Technical quality assistant
- Quality manager
- GLP conformity manager
